Dentures
Dentures can be used to replace missing teeth. They are removable appliances custom made for your mouth. Dentures can be made from acrylic (plastic) or cobalt-chrome metal. Dentures have the advantage of being able to replace several missing teeth, as well as having teeth added on in the event that other natural teeth are lost. We also offer 'flexi-dentures', which are made of a more flexible type of acrylic. Dentures can be complete, replacing all teeth in the mouth, or partial.
Usually four appointments are required for dentures to be made and the procedure involves impressions being taken and your bite being recorded in wax. You will usually have the chance to have a 'try' appointment to ensure you are happy with the appearance before the dentures are fitted.
It is important to note that it can take the muscles of the mouth 12 weeks or longer to get used to a new set of dentures.
