At Carshalton Park Dental Practice, we are continuously developing and furthering our skills whilst also investing in the latest innovative dental technologies. Our Cone Beam CT Scanner is a state-of-the-art scanning machine that is used to produce precise, high resolution 3D and 2D images of a patient’s mouth.

What is Cone Beam CT Scanning?

Cone Beam CT provides volumetric images that provide complete three-dimensional views of critical anatomy for more thorough analysis of bone structure and tooth orientation. Cone Beam CT delivers accurate scans with images comparable to medical CT’s with a much lower radiation dose and quicker scan times.

With this type of advanced equipment, patients can receive the highest quality advanced dental care. Scanning allows us to be efficient in facilitating many dental treatments.

The Imaging System We Use:

The Cone Beam CT scanner we use is the Gendex CB500 I-CAT scanner which is specially designed for dental use. This is an extremely safe machine with probably the lowest radiation dose of any scanner available. Using this equipment, we can reconstruct 3D images of the patient’s teeth, oral and maxillofacial region, ears, nose and throat. Digital scans are far more precise and patient friendly with a maximum scan time of less that 23 seconds.

Advantages of CBCT Scans

We have moved on from the uncomfortable and widely disliked process of creating impressions.

• CBCT Scans are minimally invasive, particularly beneficial for anxious patients

• The patient has an improved understanding of their diagnosis and treatment plan

• Desired results can be achieved efficiently, with potential errors during treatment planning greatly reduced

If you refer a patient to us, we will ensure you are fully informed about progress and outcomes. Once we receive your referral, we will then contact the patient directly to make an appointment for consultation, keeping you informed of progress.
